Everthing Ghanaian and even more in one place

Fatau Dauda insists he is still not the first choice Black Stars goalkeeper

Fatau Dauda has been the mainstay for the Black Stars since the 2013 Nations CupGhana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda insists he is not yet the first choice of the Black Stars despite his consistent starting run.

Dauda has been the mainstay for the team ever since impressing at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

Many however doubt his first choice credentials following his inactive club career at Orlando Pirates – which is being traced to his relative dip in form.

Others also believe the ex AshantiGold captain remains the undisputed no . 1 for the team and will definitely be the one in between the sticks for Ghana at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The 28-year-old however insists the first choice position for the Black Stars is still up for grabs with keen competition from Adam Kwarasey and the others for the starting role.
“There is big competition [in goalkeeping department of the Black Stars]; I can't say I am no . 1 now,” he said.
“Until it is time for a match and the coach tells me I am starting then I am no . 1 but for now I am not number one.”
Dauda kept the post for Ghana throughout the successful World Cup qualification campaign despite intense criticisms over his recent dodgy displays.
