Hundreds join PPP-led anti corruption demo in Kumasi

Hundreds of demonstrators on Saturday crowded the streets of the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi, to protest against what they describe as high corruption and bad economic governance in Ghana.

It is the second demonstration organised by the Progressive Peoples Party’s Anti corruption campaign coalition.

According to Luv FM's Erastus Asare Donkor, over 300 people joined in the protest march which started at about 10am, an improvement in the number of participants in a similar event in October in Accra.

Convenor for the PPP-led anti corruption march, Nii Allotey Brew-Hammond, demanding among others, separation of the Attorney General's department from the Ministry of Justice, as well as an independent legislature to enable the state effectively fight corruption.

The party is also calling for the election of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives, as opposed to the current practise where they are appointed by the president
