Apple to release iOS 8.0.1 update to address key bug fixes

Apple to release iOS 8.0.1 update to address key bug fixes
A week after releasing iOS 8, Apple is now preparing an update which will include some important bug fixes for the OS.
The report comes from MacRumours, though there’s no mention of the update fixing bigger issues that have been plaguing Apple users since the iOS 8 update. The news site says the update will address key hiccups including call forwarding issues and freezing of the device when accessing visual voicemail and the keypad not appearing when trying to enter iCloud Keychain verification codes.
In addition, the update will fix video playback issues on Safari and VPN profile installation issues. AirDrop is likely to support Passbook passes following the update.
The update hardly comes as a surprise considering the number of problems users have reported after having updated their iPhones and iPads to the latest operating system. This is usually the case with major OS rollouts. In fact, Apple had released an update for iOS 7 just a day after the launch.
Apple forums have several users complaining about problems in iOS 8, some of which include faster battery drain, Wi-Fi connectivity and sound issues. According to a report byBGR, iOS 8 also crashes 78% more than its previous release. App crash rates across devices running iOS 8 were 3.56 percent, in comparison with iOS 7.1 which crashed 2 percent of the time.
iOS 8 has started with a slower adoption rate compared to its predecessors. Apple confirmed a 46 percent iOS 8 adoption rate as of September 22, while some reports advising iPhone 4S and older iPad users against updating their devices could also be one of the factors for the slow adoption. The iOS 8.0.1 update may put these reports to rest.
The iOS 8.0.1 update will reportedly address several other issues which early users have been experiencing. However, it might take more than a single update before all of the issues can be addressed. The release date for iOS 8.0.1 is not known yet, but it could appear fairly as it is already in the hands of partners for testing and approval.
